We get the same comments all the time:
When I bought my house nobody said there was an association.
I don't own here, I rent.
How does it benefit me to belong?
Let's start at the beginning, this is a neighborhood association NOT a homeowners association. This was a deliberate change to be inclusive of all the residents of Wardcliffe.
We ask for a small contribution of $20.00 a year to help keep the lights on (literally, we pay the bill for the entrance signage and lighting) additionally we advocate for our members applying for grants to support parks and public spaces, waste containers in spring and fall for the community and sponsored events for the children of Wardcliffe.
What does that support?
We meet regularly to meet the needs of our subdivision and on a regular basis invite special guests such as our alderperson to discuss issues we may facing (We asked that police monitor speeding on Sterling as an example for the safety of our children) in addition:
Neighborhood Park/Playground Maintenance
Regular contact and communications with City Council Representatives, Police, and City Code Enforcement
Annual Resident Meeting - April
Annual Picnic/Night Out – August
Spring and Fall Dumpsters (yard waste and trash)
Summer “Curb Appeal” Awards – July/August
Christmas Lighting Awards - December
Maintenance of Neighborhood Entries
Neighborhood Watch / Call-em All
Neighborhood Association Meetings
We do this for all of us regardless of participation in the association. If you do wish to be included in the association, click the link above to fill out a form. We will then send you more information as to how to join. You will be informed of upcoming events via email before it gets posted to the website. You will have access meeting minutes and notes via a shared drive. You will have access to meeting virtually as well as in person. Plus a whole lot of intangibles like community building.
Wardcliffe Neighborhood blends the best of both city of Peoria and country living. Many homes are nestled on mature, wooded lots, and the community features its own ten-acre park complete with a scenic hiking trail. While the city is just minutes away, the peaceful sounds of nature are what you’ll mostly hear. The Wardcliffe Neighborhood Association fosters a strong sense of community by hosting several annual events.
Wardcliffe offers quick and easy access to shopping, dining, and recreational destinations
